Term 2 Week 3 2025
A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Friends,
This Friday, our students will be visiting the much-loved Mother’s Day Stall to purchase a special gift in preparation for this Sunday. It’s a long-standing tradition at Our Lady’s, and one I fondly remember taking part in myself during the 1990s. These small but thoughtful tokens are always a highlight and a wonderful way for students to express their love and gratitude. Thank you to our P&F team for making this happen!
On Monday morning, our P&F and staff will be hosting our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast. All families are warmly invited to attend, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and snap some beautiful family photos together. Following breakfast, we will gather in the MPC for a special Mother’s Day Liturgy.
I’d like to take this moment to wish all the mother figures in our school community a relaxing and joy-filled Mother’s Day. Whether it’s the early days of cuddles and care, the countless sporting runs, the gentle comfort when we’re upset, or the support we now see being given to our own children—our mothers truly are some of the most special people in our lives.
A Prayer for Mothers
Loving God, we thank you for the gift of mothers. May they be blessed with joy, strengthened by love, and wrapped in Your peace. Grant them patience and wisdom as they guide and nurture. May they always feel the deep gratitude we hold in our hearts.
Amen.
In other exciting news—it’s official! Our Lady’s will be defending our title at the Longreach Show Float Parade! This year, our theme is “125 Years of Faith and Learning”, and we’ll be bringing the party with a birthday-themed float. Keep an eye out for the Google Form next week to sign up and be part of the fun. We love being a vibrant presence in the Longreach community!
Next week also marks the beginning of Parent-Teacher Interviews for Years 1–6. This is a great opportunity to check in with your child’s teacher and learn more about their progress. Bookings are open now via the Parent Orbit App and will close this Sunday at 3pm, giving teachers time to prepare for each meeting.
Meanwhile, our Year 5 students will return tomorrow afternoon from a jam-packed week at Fairbairn Dam Camp! Canoeing, outdoor adventures, and team building galore—it’s been a memorable experience. Thank you to Miss Kelleher and Mr KD for leading the charge and supporting our students so wonderfully. Their feedback on student behaviour has been glowing!
Lastly, we are currently accepting Prep enrolments for 2026. If you know a family considering Prep for next year, please encourage them to visit our school website or Facebook page for more information.
God bless,
Mr Peter Thurecht
Tell Them From Me Surveys

As part of our ongoing school improvement cycle, we are inviting all families to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning parent survey. Your feedback plays a vital role in shaping the direction of our school and helping us provide the best possible learning environment for our students.
The last time we ran this survey in 2022, your insights directly influenced meaningful changes across our school. One significant outcome was the introduction of our instrumental music program, now offered to students in Years 4–6 through The Cathedral College Rockhampton.
We would greatly appreciate your participation again this year. As valued partners in our school community, your views will help guide our priorities for student learning, wellbeing, and family engagement.
The survey is:
✅ Anonymous
✅ Takes around 20 minutes to complete
✅ Available on both computers and mobile devices
To complete the survey, please visit: http://tellthemfromme.com/olcpsl85
Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your feedback. Your voice matters and helps us grow stronger together as a school community.
Student Protection

Student Protection is taken very seriously within our school and Diocese. Each year all staff undertake mandatory student protection training at the beginning of the year. This year our School Student Protection Officers are Mr Peter Thurecht, Mr Sahlie Komndi-Diggins, Mrs Belinda Thurecht and Ms Sarah Wall. If you have concerns, please do not hesitate to contact one of our officers.
